🎧 EP 170 | Hal Shurtleff with Camp Constitution
What does it mean to truly know and love your country through an honest understanding of its history?
In this episode, we sit down with our delightful guest Hal Shurtleff, founder of Camp Constitution, to discuss his lifelong passion for American history and the journey that led him to educate others about the nation's founding principles and Constitution. Hal shares how he developed a deep appreciation for our country while recognizing the good, the bad, and the ugly found throughout its history.
We also explore the inspiration behind Camp Constitution, his family's homeschooling journey, and why passing on a love of learning and civic understanding to the next generation matters now more than ever. Along the way, Hal reflects on the legacy of educator and author Samuel Blumenfeld and the significant contributions he made to homeschooling and educational reform.
Whether you're a parent, educator, history enthusiast, or someone seeking encouragement for raising the next generation, this conversation offers thoughtful insights, practical wisdom, and a renewed appreciation for the importance of knowing where we've come from—and where we're headed.

We aren’t just raising children—we’re raising the future of America. Liberty isn’t self-sustaining. It doesn’t survive on sentiment, love, slogans, chocolate (although some readers may disagree with me on that one), or good intentions. It endures when each generation understands the principles of liberty, treasures them, and is prepared to defend them. America—the land that we love—is worth preserving. But our Constitutional Representative Republic can only be preserved if Americans are educated for liberty.
